visiting the past with a view to the future
I visited with an ex-boyfriend when I was in Charleston last weekend. Like 20 years ago ex. Before I knew about the BDSM community & what polyamory was.

The reason I broke up with him and the reason I hunted him back down is that he was polyamorous. He didn't use that word and I think he unaware there were organized communities that accepted his behavior. I thought he was being unreasonable at the time (chose me, damnit!) and I left him.

Fast forward 20 years or so...

I told him I'd been exposed to several alternative communities while I was in California and "did you ever figure out that you were polyamourous?". He did.

Then I mentioned the BDSM community. That seemed to peak his interest, as he asked "What side of things do you prefer?" When I told him I'd been very active in the public community, he said I was far beyond his experience. He chuckled and said, "And I thought looking for a nude beach was out there..." (in a slow, southern drawl...).

We had limited time as the focus of my trip was my Aunt. He told me he wanted to pursue the conversation further. I told him he knew how to get in touch. He gave me a brief kiss good bye.

And he called last night. He's coming up July 19th. He wants to spend the night. Yikes!

He said he knew we needed to have a longer conversation. I agreed. I told him that if he was ok sleeping on the couch if the conversation lead to that, then he was welcome.

This is a man who respects boundaries. I know that. Wonder if I'll need to enforce mine?

I want to ask questions, sort out options, make decisions. I want to "plan". And instead I'm just going to wait and see what happens. I'm going to be spontaneous. And be patient. And say "no"  or "yes" as the emotions inspire me.

Bye Bye Kitty!
The last kitten in the original litter I offered to foster was adopted last night.
I picked up 5 kittens on May 12th.
I adopted out Tommie on May 28.
I adopted out Sadie & Mimi to one family on June 22.
I adopted out Savannah on June 22nd and the gentleman called me Tuesday also wanting Scooter!
I delivered Scooter last night. I'm thrilled he's back with one of his sisters.

Time to find homes for 5 kittens: 7 weeks.
Time to find homes after they were fixed and actually available for  adoption:  1.5 weeks

Scooter was my favorite. I thought I'd cry when the fellow took him away, but the new owner brought  Savannah along to welcome her brother. The new owner was just so enthusiastic about having these kittens that he made it easy for me to let Scooter go. He's going to be a pampered little guy.

I still have a litter of 5 feral kittens + 2 kittens from other litters.
I need to enjoy them while I can.

It's amazing to see the behavior changes in the feral kittens over time. We started with fear, suspicion, and distrust. We've moved to proximity, curiosity and tolerance. They are sleeping on my bed at night now, though not next to me yet. Each little step toward trust and affection is noted and treasured.

A lesson learned for future relationships with people, eh?

Tough week - from "Diary of Scooter Roo"
If my oldest foster kitten could write:

"It's been a really tough week. Last Sunday they cut off my balls. This Sunday they sold all my sisters. Then they brought me home to 7 youngsters that I don't even like. What next?"

June 15th all my older kittens were "fixed". Today, all 3 of the girls were adopted. What's with people not wanting boy cats? Scooter is really affectionate. Then a woman who's been approved to adopt wanted Scooter & a kitten I'd never seen before (Clover) . The woman who was fostering Clover also had one other kitten (Banjo). Neither of them were fixed... so I gave up 3 and added 2 more. My home is becoming a social experiment in cat behavior.

So the smallest kitten now is "Banjo" and of course he's the loudest... "Feed Me Now!".

Lot's of love in my house :-)
